The highly anticipated 2026 FPV Drone Racing World Cup (Ningbo Yinzhou Stop) officially starts today, running through May 31. This marks the second time the elite global event lands in China, following the 2025 Shanghai edition.
- 120 top pilots from over 30 countries compete on a 500m+ 3D FAI F9U-certified track.
- Drones reach speeds up to 300 km/h; categories: Open, Junior, Women’s.

2. Australian Blackbird FPV Hits Unofficial 696 km/h Speed Record

Aussie engineer Benjamin Biggs and pilot Aidan Kelly of Drone Pro Hub have released footage of their Blackbird FPV drone hitting an unofficial peak speed of 696 km/h (432.5 mph).
- Two-run average (100m measured stretch): 661 km/h, 3 km/h above the current Guinness record (658 km/h).
- No official observer present → record remains unratified, but video evidence is undisputed.

3. RSI Europe Delivers 9,500 Shpak FPV Drones to NATO Buyer

Lithuanian manufacturer RSI Europe has completed delivery of 9,500 Shpak FPV combat drones to an undisclosed NATO member.
- Annual production tripled to 120,000 units to meet demand.
- Shpak is now qualified for the U.S. Pentagon’s Drone Dominance Program (Gauntlet 2).
- 12 NATO countries currently operate the Shpak system.

4. Pentagon’s Gauntlet 2 Expands: 48 Companies to Compete for FPV Contracts

The U.S. Department of Defense has announced 48 companies will participate in Gauntlet 2, the next phase of the $1.1B Drone Dominance Program.
- 78 distinct FPV drone models to be tested (long-range + close-quarters categories).

- British-Ukrainian firm Neros leads Phase 1 standings with a near-perfect score.
